10th ANNIVERSARY EDITION:
2XLP 180 gram (200 gold / 300 black vinyl) / CS (100 glitter gold) / CD (editoin of 100 digipak)
Originally released on CDr in 2006 with Kill Shaman and quickly caught the eye and ears of Aquarius Records in San Francisco. With the help of carrying the CDr release, Wright produced around 650 CDr's to keep with the demand of Aquarius' review from their list no. 243. "Gorgeous drifting ethereal krautrocky ambience is what Expo '70 is all about, and eyes closed, you'd be hard pressed to not think this was some Ash Ra Tempel disc or some long lost A.R. and The Machines lp. Crafted entirely from guitars, sitar and Moog, each track here is some sort of lengthy, mesmerizingingly blissed out minimal drone jam. Guitar figures are looped into hypnotic cycles, over shimmery whirls of fuzzy sound and distant drones, the looped riffs slowly shifting and gently changing shape. It's almost like some sort of new age space rock Steve Reich." Aquarius couldn't have summed up the etherial mystique around Wright's developing project better.
Newly mastered after being out of print since 2009, this classic album finally graces 2 LP's and Cassette, both in limited editions on Sonic Meditations. Gatefold tip-on jackets, 200 gold and 225 black 180 gram vinyl. 100 glitter gold cassettes.
Expo Seventy is back on Essence Music with the mastermind Justin Wright bringing together a rare line-up featuring two drummers. The four-piece only lived during a short period of time and the thunderous experiments achieved by these unique sonic hypnotists are fully presented here.
With an impressive discography of transcendent kosmische drones, slow-burn psychedelic magnetism and heavier sounds behind him, Wright decided to set a new milestone with America Here & Now Sessions. Freely touching distant, dark corners of the cosmos where the sun shines timid, the band slowly builds two long movements of truly mesmerizing, free-form quality that propels the listener even higher to maximum altered state of consciousness.
Warm, harmonic, meditational analog synth explorations get eventually accompanied by bursting, ritualistic percussions and distorted guitar tones, while a gloomy welcome ceremony of heavier guitar jams paints a grand canvas of seriously dark psychedelia.
America Here & Now Sessions was recorded during the three-week art experience started in Kansas City featuring paintings, sculptures, poetry, plays, films and music from local and national artists called "America: Now And Here - A cross-country traveling dialogue about America through the arts". Local musician Ashley Miller spearheaded a recording project that featured a handful of local acts to record some music that would be later edited together and released as an album. The project lost funding, but Expo Seventy was able to record as part of the art experiment.
CS OUT SOON ON SONIC MEDITATIONS
The fourth position of Expo 70 in Zoharum catalogue is the double album "Live in the Pit-KFJC 89.7FM". It collects two live studio on-air performances, held on KFJC in Los Altos Hills California in 2008 and in 2010. The recordings were separately released, in tiny editions. 2008 as a bonus CDr to “Psychosis” LP and 2010 as a tour CDr. These are two improvised suites played with minimal means, 2008 features the duo as Matt Hill joined Wright on a couple of short tours, 2010 shows Wright solo. Hypnotic, lazy guitar sounds supported with rudimentary drum machine parts are the perfect soundtrack for the pilots of spaceships, even if they are imaginary. Somewhere far away in the background you can hear the echoes of the concert side of Pink Floyd's "Ummagumma", "Atem" by Tangerine Dream, "Trip Flip Out-Meditation" by Zweistein or "Impressionen '71" by Damenbart.
The CDs are housed in gatefold sleeve in the vein of Japanese-style vinyl replica and is strictly limited to 500 copies. The cover is based on the original 2010 session limited release, designed Wright himself. The whole production process was overseen by Micha Porwet.
